Hello those reading, I am Blake Carter I am a fourth year cadet and I’ve been awarded a three-year Army National Scholarship. I intend to utilize my three year Army ROTC Scholarship at Florida SouthWestern State College. As for my major I plan to major in Engineering and graduate class of 2025 and then be enlisted into the Army as a Second Lieutenant.
I want to thank JROTC and the instructors as a whole. Because without them I wouldn’t have been able to do this. Because of my leadership roles I earned and guidance they gave me all four years along with some efforts of my own was the reason I become a serious candidate for the Army ROTC scholarship. The volunteer work done was also a must as it is for any high school student. However it was mostly what I did outside Of JROTC is what propelled me to obtain my scholarship. Like my job as a Student Clerk at the Collier County Sheriffs Office and multiple varsity letters and of course as every great student knows keeping a high GPA from freshman year to senior. Along with the focus on studying for your ACT or SAT which ever you do best in.
I encourage everyone I meet regardless of wanting to do military as a career to try to emulate what the Army ROTC scholarship looks for. Now what they look for is a thing called SAL “student athlete leader”. Doing such in your high school career doesn’t only make you competitive for many other scholarships and your multiple college applications and admissions but also like me an Army ROTC Scholarship. So reach out to mentors and learn along with working hard to keep every door possible open.
